Insulation Benefits
Insulate Your Windows This Winter With Secondary Glazing
Here's just a few of the many ways in which Stop Noise secondary glazing beings energy savings to your home or workplace.
Energy Cost
Rising power bills are making people think more about insulating their homes better. We insulate the ceilings and walls and fit seals to our doors, but we forget the most important part of the home is the windows. In most cases there is only 3mm of glass separating us from extremely cold conditions outside. While the use of heavy drapes does make some difference it only stops about 10% of your heat loss. Which means you are still losing another 50% through your windows.
Temperature Control
The major heat loss in most residential buildings occurs through the windows. This is where a Low U-VALUE is important. Please note the example below to show how bad your existing windows are and how much they can be improved by installing a Secondary Glazing System to them.
Savings
The end result will be a big saving on your heating and cooling cost for the life of your home, and will help to reduce the green house effect on the environment.
Example
Before - The u-value of a window using 3mm glass and with an area size of 1 meter x 2 meters = 2 square meters on a scale of 1 to 10 has a high u-value of 6.1 the higher the value the worse the insulation level.
After - The u-value of the same size window after it has had the Secondary Glazing System fitted to it will have a low u-value of 3.01 the lower the value the better the insulation level.
This means the reduction in heat loss will be 54% better after the secondary window system has been installed.
