Does your home feel less like a safe haven and more like a bustling roadside café?
The relentless drone of traffic, your neighbour’s late-night Netflix marathons, and the early morning rubbish trucks – it’s enough to drive even the most zen of us up the wall…
When outside noise constantly invades your space, peace feels impossible. But what if you could reclaim your quiet without taking drastic measures?
Stop Noise offers effective residential noise reduction with custom household soundproof windows, using our proven secondary glazing solutions to silence the intrusion and restore your calm.
Transform your home with premium window soundproofing
Reduce noise by up to 70% with Stop Noise secondary glazing
Secondary glazing adds a discreet internal layer of glass behind your existing windows, creating a large air gap that acts as a noise barrier. This extra layer is highly effective at soundproofing while maintaining the aesthetic of your home. With custom-built solutions for every window style, you’ll enjoy a quieter, more peaceful living space without the need to replace your existing windows entirely.
Want soundproof windows? No need to replace your existing windows — upgrade them with secondary glazing by Stop Noise!
Effective Residential Noise Reduction with Soundproof Windows
Awning, hinged, double-hung windows – you name it, we can soundproof it!
So, how do our household soundproof windows achieve such effective residential noise reduction? The magic lies in the secondary glazing system. We install a second, independent window panel on the inside of your current window frame. This creates a significant air gap (typically 70-100mm) between the two panes.
This air gap acts as a powerful buffer, dampening sound vibrations before they enter your room. Unlike costly and disruptive full window replacement, our secondary glazing system preserves your original windows and is typically more effective at reducing low-frequency noise (from 50% to 70%) due to the wider air gap.

If you’re unsure of your window type, click on the image below that most closely resembles your particular window to find the ideal solution:
1. Awning Window Soundproofing
Awning, or wind out, windows are the most popular window found in domestic dwellings. We have extensive experience in soundproofing awning windows by integrating our secondary glazing system into the existing structure. Our Stop Noise secondary sliding system fits neatly into the timber recess of the existing window, while allowing you to still open the existing window for simple, easy cleaning. We custom-build our products to suit your window’s dimensions and style.
The secondary system looks great on the inside of the existing window, and with a range of colours that will match the existing window. If you have blinds fitted into the existing window frame, we will refit them onto our frame. The Stop Noise system is half the cost of traditional double-glazed windows and is a lot more effective in reducing noise.
2. Hinged Window Soundproofing
At Stop Noise, we provide an effective solution for reducing the noise coming through your hinged windows. Our secondary glazing system fits neatly inside of your existing window, reducing the noise level by a minimum of 50%. It quickly opens for easy cleaning and painting of the existing windows.
No matter how many panels of glass your window has, the Stop Noise system is custom-built to match your existing window configuration. Above all, there is a range of colours and styles to suit your windows. We can even fit the system to casement type windows for enhanced soundproofing. And, for added security, the Stop Noise system can be fitted with locks.
We use 2 types of glass for hinged window soundproofing:
- 6.38mm laminated safety glass
- 10.38mm laminated safety glass
Furthermore, tinted glass is another option for protection from UV rays, which prolong the life of your carpets and furnishings.
3. Double-Hung Window Soundproofing
The Stop Noise secondary window system for double-hung (or sash) windows replicates the type and style of the existing window. Our system fits on the inside of the existing window frame to preserve the design while significantly reducing noise. If your windows have blinds attached, we can easily refit them onto the secondary glazing frame for a smooth, integrated solution.
Most soundproof windows only take about 1 hour to install, with all work conducted in a neat and tidy manner. The look of the window will not be noticeable from outside and will blend into the internal decor.
4. Sliding Window Soundproofing
Our sliding aluminium secondary glazing system can nicely suit your existing aluminium windows and doors. The Stop Noise system fits neatly into the timber recess of your current window or door frame, creating a large airspace between the existing glass and the new secondary glass. This air gap, combined with an airtight seal, is the key to reducing noise effectively.
The panels in the secondary glazing system align perfectly with the panels in your existing windows, but with one major improvement — all panels in the Stop Noise system are fully functional and slide smoothly. If you have blinds fitted into the window recess, we will remove and refit them onto the new secondary system.
Benefits of Soundproofing Your Home with Secondary Glazing
Energy Efficiency and Comfort:
While banishing unwanted noise is often the main goal, our acoustic household windows solution delivers a significant extra benefit: enhanced thermal insulation.
The very same air gap that masterfully dampens sound waves also acts as a powerful barrier against heat loss and gain.
This simple addition can make a surprising difference to your year-round comfort and energy consumption. Here’s how our secondary glazing boosts your home’s performance:
Warmer Winters
The trapped layer of air dramatically reduces the amount of heat escaping through your windows during colder months. This helps maintain a more consistent internal temperature, reduces cold draughts near windows, and means your heating system doesn’t have to work quite so hard.
Cooler Summers
In warmer weather, the air gap works in reverse, significantly reducing the amount of external heat radiating through the glass. This helps keep your home cooler, thus lessening the burden on your air conditioning.
Reduced Energy Bills
By actively improving your home’s ability to retain heat in winter and repel it in summer, our system can lead to noticeable savings on your heating and cooling costs.
Year-Round Comfort
Ultimately, better insulation means a more stable and comfortable indoor climate, whatever the season.
Eco-Friendly Upgrade
Reducing your energy consumption is good for your wallet and for the environment too.
Stop Noise systems contribute towards achieving excellent energy efficiency, complementing the fantastic noise reduction home windows provide. It’s a dual-action upgrade, enhancing both the peace and the comfort of your living space without needing to replace your existing windows.

Holly Wilhelm StopNoise has been a dream to work with right from the start. Communication is always extremely fast, polite & professional. The team both online & in person has been great at offering advice throughout the entire process and are clearly well equipped in their field. The final product has exceeded our expectations as the windows are seamless in deign and we have already noticed a reduction in noise. Couldn't recommend them more. Avril K We've been getting each of our windows done over the years with these guys, it really helps with the road noise and keeping the temperature more even. Will it get rid of all noise? Of course not, if you want that then try replacing your window with an insulated wall, seriously. Glazing will muffle sound to a less noticeable hum, so set your expectations accordingly. For us it has been worth every penny and we have been grateful to these guys over the years for their excellent product and service. Boswell O'MaHooper We had two stop noise sliding doors installed a year ago - have been very happy with them. The company is professional, they installed them quickly and the road noise is greatly reduced. We are getting replacement windows from another company right now (triple glaze) and they were trying to sell me replacement doors - I showed them why I didn't need them. They were impressed! Ric Excellent product and service offered by Aaron at Stop noise. He provided expert advice and suit the needs of my household of double glazings on few occasions. I would strongly recommend Stop noise when it comes to windows, double glazing etc.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to install Stop Noise secondary glazing?
Most Stop Noise window soundproofing installations are quick and efficient, with each window typically taking about one hour to complete. This may vary depending on the number of windows and the complexity of the installation, but we always aim to minimise disruption to your home.
Does secondary glazing help with energy efficiency?
Yes. In addition to soundproofing, secondary glazing can improve your home’s thermal insulation by creating an extra barrier against drafts and reducing heat loss. Soundproof windows with secondary glazing can also make your home more energy-efficient and potentially lower your energy bills.
Does the secondary glazing require any special maintenance?
No special maintenance is required for Stop Noise secondary glazing. You can clean the secondary glass panels and the frames just as you would with any regular window. The soundproof window panels are easy to access and allow for hassle-free cleaning.
How does secondary glazing compare to double glazing for soundproofing?
Secondary glazing, like the Stop Noise system, often provides better soundproofing than standard replacement double glazing. This is primarily due to the larger air gap (typically 70-100mm with secondary Vs 12-20mm with double glazing) which is more effective at blocking a wider range of sound frequencies, especially lower-frequency noises like traffic rumble.
It’s also less intrusive and more cost-effective than replacing entire window units, making it ideal for residential noise reduction.
How much noise reduction can I expect from soundproof windows for homes?
With Stop Noise secondary glazing, you can expect significant residential noise reduction. We guarantee a minimum reduction of 50%, with results often reaching up to 70%. This makes a very noticeable difference in creating a quieter, more peaceful home environment.
