Grinch-Approved Methods To Block Out Festive Noises This Christmas Season

Christmas is here, that much is clear. Festive decorations are going up all about and everyone is starting to feel excited, no doubt.

All of this hustling and bustling to get the perfect gift or find the perfect recipe can be exciting. But one thing that isn’t quite as appealing is the noise that can send some reeling or leave others with an unpleasant feeling.

Festive noises like Christmassy tunes, lots of traffic, shouting voices, and fireworks can be very annoying, especially if you are just trying to relax and enjoy a peaceful type of celebration.  These sounds and the stress of the season can make it very hard to get enough sleep at night or can leave you feeling drained and grumpy instead of excited about the holiday season.

If you are sick and tired of hearing the same festive tunes play over and over again, of late-night party music, or of all the other sounds that might upset your own way of celebrating Christmas then it is time to consider soundproofing solutions for your home.

In this guide, we are going to take a look at a couple of soundproofing solutions that the Grinch himself would be absolutely proud of.

Get Add-On Double Glazing For Windows

Add-on double glazing is a type of insulation that is a lot more affordable than double glazing yet just as effective. The method involves installing an additional window pane to your windows. This extra sheet of glass creates a cavity between the two panes that naturally diverts or blocks out a lot of the sounds that might be coming from outside. Add-on double glazing is incredibly flexible because it can be installed on any sized window or even doors. This window upgrade also won’t affect the aesthetics or function of the window because it can be opened up and it is completely transparent so you can let in some fresh air if you like.

With just this one treatment, most of the Christmassy tunes and noises you hear in your home will be eliminated and you can pay more attention to your own festivities or favourite Christmas tune.

Play Your Own Favourite Festive Tracks

A great way to drown out some of those festive sounds, or to at least mask annoying repeating tracks that your neighbours might be playing over and over again, is by playing your own tracks indoors. Create your own playlist and fill it with songs or music that you actually enjoy listening to. With this music in the background, you will feel much more at ease.

And if you don’t like music in the background then you can always opt for a different type of background sound. Something like white noise, crackling fire sounds, or the sound of rain pattering against the window can also be downloaded from the internet and played back in your home to create an ambient interior space.

Consider Other Soundproofing Options

When you get add-on double glazing, you should also consider other soundproofing solutions. A door seal will keep your cool Christmas air trapped inside so your home won’t warm up too quickly during this hot season. Soundproofing caulk can also seal off small cracks around windows, doors, or between the roof and your home so you can block out many of the noises coming from outside. If you are feeling particularly Grinch-like this festive season then you can also consider acoustic panels for your bedroom door, ceiling and walls. All of these additional soundproofing materials will help a little bit and will enable you to create the perfect quiet space.

Double Up On Decor

Adding more matter to a room will also help insulate and soundproof the room. Accessories like carpets, heavy furniture pieces, and lots of soft decorations will absorb some of the noises you might hear and can do a great job at deflecting sound waves so the noises won’t sound as hollow or annoying. The more decorations you hang in your windows, the more soundproof your home will become.

Out of all of these methods, add-on double glazing is by far the most effective for drowning out other sounds. Give Stop Noise a call so these professionals can help you stop the noise before the festive season truly kicks in.
